About us

About the Fort Worth Gem & Mineral Club

We’re neighbors who like rocks — and we’ve been gathering in Fort Worth since 1950. No pressure, no sales pitch: just programs, field trips, and people who are glad to share what they know.

Our story

The Fort Worth Gem & Mineral Club was founded in 1950 as a volunteer-run nonprofit. We’re not a business — we’re a community that cares about minerals, lapidary, learning, collecting, and friendship.

Some members polish cabs; others love fluorescent minerals or fossil hunting. Some are just starting out with a pocket full of creek stones. Beginners, families, and experienced collectors are all part of the same table — we learn from speakers, from each other, and from time in the field.

We believe in ethical collecting, respecting landowners, and making room for curiosity. If that sounds like your speed, we’d love to meet you.

Federation Affiliations

The Fort Worth Gem & Mineral Club is proud to be an active member of both the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies (AFMS) and the South Central Federation of Mineralogical Societies (SCFMS). Through these organizations, our members stay connected with the broader rockhounding, lapidary, mineralogical, and earth science communities across the country.

These affiliations help support educational programs, responsible collecting practices, club development, and opportunities to share knowledge with fellow enthusiasts throughout the region.
